This is topic I’ve read about and listened to countless podcasts on and what is rather interesting is that no one tends to believe they are responsible for their own happiness – but the more you delve the more you realise you are in control of your own happiness. Of course there are external components that create spikes and dips in our happiness and sadness but ultimately, you always return to your set point. Why is this important when it comes to watch collecting? It’s rather simple really, it’s important to realise that buying a new watch or any new shiny thing, will only increase your happiness for a short period of time, then you will return to your set point. Just think how often excited and happy you are to finally buy or collect your new watch, only to return to your set point of happiness. Why is this important to remember? For two good reasons: 1) always appreciate your watch for what it is, just a watch and 2) the more watches you have, will not increase your happiness levels – so appreciate the collection you already have. This is something we’ve come across through our own journey in watch collecting but its great to see our friend “F” talk about this subject over on screwdowncrown.com.
