OMEGA SEAMASTER 300 SPECTRE LIMITED EDITION
Last year one of our favourite posts of 2014 was the new Omega Seamaster 300. In 2015, along with the latest release of the anticipated cult spy series, 007, Omega introduced this Seamaster 300. This “Spectre” Seamaster 300 was perhaps one of the best Bond timepieces since the old faithful Rolex Submariner. It featured subtle differences from the original timepiece introduced last year but these differences made a huge impact. Read the full post
OMEGA GLOBEMASTER
Officially released during Baselworld 2015, the Globemaster was one of the most discussed timepieces unveiled by Omega. After all, this new timepiece featured something that most would say is heavily associated with Rolex: a fluted bezel. Nevertheless, this is nothing new to Omega and it has indeed featured on Constellation timepieces from back in the 60s. The Globemaster in my honest opinion, has everything one could need from a modern dress watch and has a perfect balance of historical elements in a contemporary package. To add to that, the Globemaster is the first timepiece from Omega to feature a METAS certified movement. Read the full post
PATEK PHILIPPE 5270R
The Patek Philippe reference 5270 is nothing new but it is easy to forget that this piece in rose-gold was introduced this year. The perpetual calendar chronograph from Patek is arguably one of their most sought after grand complication timepieces and with last years pieces receiving some negativity in regards to the so-called ‘chin’, Patek made a small adjustment to remedy this. A. LANGE SONHE DOUBLE SPLIT FLYBACK
This year the folks over at Lange were generous enough to loan us a Double Split Flyback for a considerable amount of time, which not only enabled us to get to grips with it but also appreciate it’s majesty, oh and of course get some downright awesome shots of it too. ROLEX DAY-DATE 40
Not often does Rolex release a new piece that we so badly need to get our hands-on but after Baselworld 2015, the Day-Date 40 they introduced was too good not to. The new Day-Date 40 is a massive step in the right direction for Rolex marquee timepieces and with a large watch trend on a downturn the Day-Date 40 replaces the Day-Date II, which has generally never looked quite right. PATEK PHILIPPE CHRONOGRAPH 5170G
Coincidentally we started off 2015 with a Patek 5170G review but little did we know that at Baselworld Patek would introduce another 5170G, albeit with a black dial. This is a timepiece that has very strong lineage and has been part of Patek’s line up for many years, however I think it is safe to say with the introduction of a black dial variant, the 5170G will be remembered as THE traditional chronograph wristwatch of the 21st century. VACHERON CONSTANTIN HARMONY MONO-PUSHER CHRONOGRAPH
As you may already know, Vacheron Constantin has been around for some time. In fact they have been around, in continuous production, since 1755. So this makes it their 260th anniversary. To celebrate this anniversary, during SIHH 2015, Vacheron Constantin introduced a wristwatch range called Harmony. Issued in limited editions, these eminently contemporary timepieces feature a new cushion shape and a design inspired by one of the brand’s first wristwatch chronographs introduced in 1928. However, more importantly Vacheron also introduced their first fully in-house developed chronograph complication. Read the full post
TUDOR MONTE CARLO
Tudor have had an immensely successful year but we took the opportunity to look at one of their vintage timepieces; the chronograph reference 7159, also known as the Monte Carlo. It’s no secret that Tudor was introduced to be the more affordable alternative to Rolex but now even some vintage Tudor timepieces rival Rolex, in the price department Read the full post
F.P. JOURNE CHRONOMETRE SOUVERAIN
F.P. Journe is the quientessence of haute horlogerie and the Souverain is about as pure as it gets. Stripped back, stunning simplicity, high-precision haute horlogerie at its best. It is the dichotomy of complicated watchmaking and for François-Paul, it is inspired by early 19th century marine chronometry. Read the full post
MARCUS’ VINTAGE AUDEMARS PIGUET CALENDAR COLLECTION
Last but not least, there was no way we could leave this off the list of our favourite watch posts of 2015. This installment of our It’s Complicated Series was the most read article of 2015, thanks to our friends over at Hodinkee. We showcased just a small section of vintage Audemars Piguet calendar timepieces belonging to none other than Mr Marcus Maguilies of Marcus Watches, Bond Street, London Read the full post
