The Jaeger-LeCoultre Grande Reverso Ultra Thin 1931 Chocolate Dial: – The Reverso from Jaeger-LeCoultre is probably one of the most famous timepiece lines in the history of watchmaking and has an unmistakable design. In 2011 the Reverso was reborn with the Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Tribute to 1931, to celebrate it’s 80th anniversary – its no wonder why the Reverso has been and still is a cult timepiece for many collectors. The latest in the line is this elegant pink gold Reverso ultra thin with an absolutely gorgeous chocolate dial, which JLC created using a little inspiration from a past model.
Jaeger-LeCoultre have already released coloured dial variations of the Reverso in recent years. First, the Grande Reverso Rouge with a deep red dial in 2012, followed the next year by the Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Duoface Blue. For 2014, Jaeger-LeCoultre unveils the third member of this splendid trilogy: the Grande Reverso Ultra Thin 1931 with a chocolate-toned dial.
The new model is completely in-keeping with the original Art Deco design of the Reverso. The Dial is clean and exquisite, only the numeral at 12 o’clock gracing the dial, with the simple and yet effective inscription of ‘REVERSO’ above the seconds sub-dial – reproducing that of which has been seen on historical models.
As this Reverso is an Ultra Thin model the dimensions of the pink-gold case lives up to its name. Measuring an extremely slender 7.3 mm, the case incorporates the complex parts of the swivelling mechanism as well as a movement measuring just 2.95mm thin. Housing the resistance and reliability of Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 822/2.
Now, probably the 2nd (or on equal par )coolest feature of this timepiece other than the chocolate dial, is the Casa Fagliano strap. Polo players, who have been wild about the Reverso for over 80 years, are no less demanding when it comes to choosing the pair of boots they will wear to compete in various prestigious tournaments. They show no hesitation in confidently striding through the doors of Casa Fagliano, established since 1892 in the worldwide polo capital, Buenos Aires. For well over a century, the Fagliano family has been dedicated to a single craft of which it masters all the mysteries and intricacies: fine leather work. The descendants of the company’s founder continue to share the many duties involved in an authentic family style division of labour.
Casa Fagliano has agreed to produce hand-crafted straps in successive stages following the strict principles of time-honoured tradition in working with cordovan leather, which is renowned for its exceptional resistance. Delivered along with each watch, the strap made in the Casa Fagliano workshops is distinguished by its elegant suppleness and hand-made mode of production that makes it truly one of a kind.
At this time no official price has been confirmed but for sure this will be one Reverso that will be worth adding to your collection. You can find more info here.
